Pumpkin Active Learning Journal Pages

It’s finally October! The mornings are cooler here in Texas, the days are getting shorter, and pumpkins are popping up all over the neighborhood! My charge, E, loved our apple themed active learning journal pages last month. I was so excited to create some pumpkin pages for this week!

These pages need a few supplies along with crayons, markers, and scissors:

*Do a dot markers

*Pumpkin Stickers (This set is cute, but you can also find them at your favorite craft store!)

*Spider stickers or rings

*Mini Letters or stickers (This set is so cool, you’ll use it for a bunch of activities!)

*Small pumpkin scatter (Also found at the craft store!)

Super simple to start off, we love anything with Do a Dot and color matching.

Just basic coloring with this one!

Last month we worked really hard one straight lines, so we’ll use skinny markers to trace these fun lines. Please ignore my awful drawing of wheel barrows!

Whenever I do a cutting page, I forget it should be on the first or last page, maybe I’ll learn next month! I thought this would be a cute way to use some of the sparkle stickers I found.

I put four of each colored pumpkin sticker in a small box to give to E when we get to this page. You could do this with any type of pumpkin sticker. I’m not going to have her stick them on the paper until the end of the month since this page can be repeated over and over again.

In the same box, I also placed large, medium and small pumpkin stickers to sort. We will see how well E does with this, we might have to do large and small first before we add medium.

Another trace the line page with various types of lines. You could also use small stickers to cover these vines!

I’m excited for this page! I found some small spider stickers to add to our web. You could also use spider rings that are easily found at the dollar store right now. Great fine motor practice.

Using our pincer skills, we will place small pumpkins on the wavy line. Small dot stickers or pumpkin stickers would work as well!

E is going to get a chance to create her own pumpkin vine. Using makers or crayons she’ll draw a pumpkin as best she can. I’m excited to see what she comes up with!

Depending on your child’s age, this page can be scaled to the understanding of her name. Using mini letters or letter stickers, spell out your child’s name in the pumpkin. She will move the letters down onto the green spaces. I’ll write E’s name on the line so she can work on her visual discrimination skills by matching. In the second pumpkin line, she will build her name on her own. And then she will trace E’s. Since this is the first time we have done any letter recognition, I do not expect mastery at all. You could have your child trace her full name if she has more experience with it.

I hope these pages help you and your child celebrate a fun season. I’ll be back with another round next week!

As always, show me on Instagram if you use any of these ideas. I’d love to connect with you there!
