I can’t believe I have yet to share what is on our work shelf this month! We’ve been having so much fun, it hasn’t crossed my mind to put all our activities all in one place! With Thanksgiving a few days away I wanted to give you some more ideas if you’re hunting for the perfect turkey! (pun 100% intended!)

These are some of my old faithful trays. I found these years ago at the dollar tree. I haven’t seen these sets in recent years, but here is a cute make a turkey activity you could make into magnet trays!

I had some leftover felt feathers from another project so I attached velcro to them to be used on the back of a cookie sheet that already had been previously used for a velcro pull activity. My littles always love the sound of pulling velcro plus its an awesome fine motor exercise.

This guy is my pride and joy! I’ve seen this floating around the Montesorri world for years. When I found a pack of rainbow colored buttons at Hobby Lobby, I knew it was time! I traced a peanut shape on a lighter colored brown felt, added all the turkey elements and then hot glued it to a darker brown felt that I had already cut to mimic the peanut shape. I sewed the heck out of the buttons because they are heavy! I cut the feather shapes and added a small slit for the button. Word of advice, make your holes smaller than you think because they will stretch with use.

I presented this to my charges in two ways: Feathers on and feathers off. The one year old did much better taking them off. The three year old struggled putting the feathers back on at first but she’s gained tons of confidence as the month has gone on.

I found these pumpkin 10 frames from Early Learning Ideas in 2015. I started the month thinking we would work on 1-10. It became abundantly clear that just focusing on 1-5 would be much better for my 3 year old friend! Whenever I present a 10 frame activity like this I like to have only 10 counters available. It makes it easier for children to visual what a group of 10 looks like along with making clean up a breeze because you as the adult know how many counters should be in the basket!

We are just beginning to explore writing tools, she says while shaking her head in shame! I’m forever kicking myself for not introducing crayons and markers much earlier with my oldest charge. However, we are marching forward fully armed with every writing tool available! These cute pumpkins come from Tot Schooling. The pre writing strips are from Early Learning Ideas.

This pom pom do a dot has been a hit with the youngest who is almost 17 months old. His fine motor skills are top notch. He’s grasping the yellow tool like a pro! I don’t remember where the pages come from, but a quick google search will give you tons of options!

These are not all the Thanksgiving three part cards from The Montessori Print Shop just our favorites, but they are all adorable! Neither child is ready for to match the words so I’ve left them out.

These two pages come from my Thanksgiving printable you can download on my Teachers Pay Teachers store. As you can see, we’re working hard on our pre-writing skills! Using the pom poms we covered the lines first then traced them.

This is another page from my printable linked above. I call out a picture to find and E covers it with a pom pom. There is also a page included where you can write the number of each item.

Another one of my favorite DIY’s! This box turkey has been so much fun. Much like the button turkey this is enjoyed by both children. I covered a box with brown craft paper, added a turkey face, and made holes around the edges. Not shown are the colored circles I drew around each hole for a color matching activity. The kids love pulling the sticks, which are craft sticks and more felt feathers, and placing them back in the correct spot. Perfect for posting and pincer grasp practice. There is an adorable video on my Instagram Reel showing how to use this turkey if you want to check it out!

If you’re looking for some great Thanksgiving books, I’ve posted some of my favorites here. There are two more Thanksgiving themed printables waiting for you in my TPT store if you haven’t already checked them out already!
